Welcome to Our School
Dear Parents, Carers and Visitors,
BDP Strike Gold at the Regional First Lego League Tournament
Nine pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 proudly represented our school at the regional First Lego League tournament on Thursday 12 March.
Competing under the team name BDP Archaeology All Stars, the children took on the challenge of this year’s theme, Unearthed. The team competed against 19 other schools, including high schools and colleges, making their achievement even more impressive.
Demonstrating fantastic teamwork, creativity and determination, the pupils performed brilliantly throughout the day. A standout moment came during the Robot Games, where the team achieved an outstanding score of 250 points, winning the category.
Their hard work across all elements of the competition led to an incredible result — first place overall !!!! This fantastic success means the team has now qualified for the National Finals, where they will represent the school and aim to achieve an even higher score. Throughout the competition our pupils truly embodied our school values. They were valued as members of a supportive team, challenged through complex problem solving, supported by one another as they worked through each task and ultimately successful in achieving an incredible result.
We are extremely proud of the BDP Archaeology All Stars and wish them the very best of luck at the National Finals.

National Governance Awards Success!
On Wednesday 17th September, a group of our governors attended the prestigious National Governance Awards at the Houses of Parliament. We are delighted to share that Benton Dene Primary School was named the winner of the National Governance Award for Outstanding Governance in a State-Funded School in England. The NGS panel praised the strategic role of our governing body in both supporting and challenging school leaders, recognising the significant and lasting impact this has made on the school, our pupils, and the wider community. The panel confirmed, “this board demonstrated excellence across all aspects of governance, ensuring high standards, improving outcomes and embedding a strong, inclusive culture throughout the school community.”
We are incredibly proud of this recognition and would like to thank our governors for their tireless work, dedication and commitment to our school’s ethos of securing successful outcomes for all pupils.
